The River of Life by Benjamin King Read for Librivox.org I dreamt that I saw the river of life That flows to the Jasper Sea The angels were waiting to and fro

But none of them spoke to me Some dipped their wings into silbritide Some were alone and some side by side Nary one that I knew could I see In that river of life

The river of life that flows to the Jasper Sea The river was wide, that river of life The bottom I plainly could see The stones laying down was wider than snow The sands looked like gold to me

But angels kept waiting to and fro Where did they come from? Where did they go? None of them sinners like me I know In that river of life The river of life that flows to the Jasper Sea

The water was clear as the well by the gate While Jesus the light first see The softest of music from angel bands Come over that river of golden sands Come over that river to me

And then I saw the clouds break away Revealing the pearly gates of day The beautiful day that never shall cease Where all is joy and love and peace And over them gates was written so clear

Peace to all who enter here The angels was gathering round the fron The gates done closed I was left alone Alone on the banks of a darkening stream

But when I awoke I found twas a dream I was going to ford that river of life And see the eternal day I was going to hear them heavenly bands And feel the tech of old time hands

That long had passed away Thos crowns of glory for all I'm told And lovely hearts with strings of gold And I know if thars peace beyond that sea Would rest for the weary

Thos rest for me Beyond that river That river of life That flows to the Jasper Sea
